About Us

Founded in 1986

Amvale was founded in 1986 by our CEO Mike Godfrey in Scunthorpe. After initially specialising in the motor trade, Mike soon recognised inefficiencies in the local council’s approach to transport for children with additional support needs and soon became a contracted supplier. Amvale has always strived for safe service delivery and has been awarded Britain’s Safest Fleet and Business of Excellence awards for our work in Lincolnshire.

In 1998 Amvale Medical Transport was formed supplying patient transport and emergency blood transport on behalf of the NHS. After over 20 successful years of working alongside various NHS trusts and the private sector, Amvale opened our Scottish base in 2019.

Our Glasgow-based team have vast experience in safe event delivery at major contracts including:

  • The Scottish Event Campus & The OVO Hydro
  • DF Concerts (TRNSMT Festival, Summer Sessions)
  • Royal Highland Centre
  • Glasgow Warriors
  • SWG3
  • & Many, many more

We also have experience of providing services to a range of NHS Boards, Trusts and Local Authorities through public procurement.

Our Sustainability Efforts

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and are committed to behaving with corporate responsibility, reducing our carbon footprint and operating in a way that protects the world around us.

  • Reducing the amount of expired consumables going to landfill by recycling them in our training department where possible

  • Increasing the use of electric vehicles in our fleet
  • Monitoring the energy efficiency ratings of equipment we procure
  • Clinical waste awareness programmes to ensure only suitable waste follows this stream
  • Integrating environmental awareness into planning, marketing, employee communications, and training

  • Regularly reviewing and enhancing our environmental policies and performance

A big part of our sustainability journey is making sure our team understands the role they play. We actively promote environmental awareness among our staff, ensuring everyone is equipped with the knowledge and guidance needed to make responsible choices at work. From pollution prevention to proper waste management, we encourage environmentally conscious behaviour at every level of the organisation and support this through ongoing training and clear communication.

We’re also dedicated to continuous improvement. By regularly reviewing our environmental performance, learning from best practice, and weaving sustainability into our planning and communication, we ensure we’re always looking for ways to do better. This mindset helps us build a culture where responsible behaviour isn’t just encouraged—it’s embedded in how we operate.

Community Engagement

At Amvale Scotland, we believe our responsibility extends beyond delivering high-quality medical services and training. We are committed to contributing positively to the communities we serve, making a meaningful difference, and leaving the world a better place than we found it.

We recognise the importance of ethical practice, social responsibility, and sustainable decision-making in everything we do. From supporting local events and organisations to investing in the development of our staff and learners, we strive to create a lasting positive impact that benefits both current and future generations.

By working collaboratively with clients, partners, and communities across Scotland, Amvale Scotland is proud to play a role in building safer environments, stronger communities, and a more resilient society.

My father was transported from a Glasgow hospital to his new home in Wiltshire.
I apologise I don't have the names of the paramedics who facilitated the transfer, but they were outstanding in their professionalism, compassion and good humour.
He was so well looked after throughout the journey, and even enjoyed a sleep on the chair that folds down to a substantial bed in the back of the ambulance.
Having considered alternatives (plane, train, private vehicle) for this 500 mile journey, this was definitely the best choice, and I am very grateful to the team and the company for getting my father to me in a timely manner and in good form. Thankyou.

The hospital was unable to provide an ambulance to take my brother in law home. He was getting palliative care and time was short. I contacted Amvale and Joe managed to get a crew together within a couple of hours. The 2 staff who transfered my brother in law were amazing. Our family and support staff can't thank them enough. Colin passed away within a few hours at home with his sister by his side. Thank you.

Amvale Glasgow

Excellent 5 day course from start to finish. It was at times overwhelming with the amount of information the course contained but it was very well run and structured. We had the best trainer (Stevie McKenzie ) who broke it down and made it easier to process and digest. His very realistic approach when it came to the practical training was vital for me as it showed me the fast pace I’d be expected to work at as a first responder.
By the end of the course I had gained the knowledge and practice I needed to have the confidence in my abilities. I got on really well with fellow students on the course. We bonded instantly and worked well together as a team.
I would highly recommend this 5 day course regardless of experience or knowledge.
All the staff at the Amvale Glasgow training centre are so welcoming, friendly, approachable and supportive.
Big thanks to Andrew Short and Melissa who are lovely, friendly and happy to answer any queries relating to the course.

Highly Recommend Amvale Scotland a superb service.
We used Amvale for private ambulance transport for my elderly mother from Scotland to England, Borders General Hospital to Solihull care home.
My mum felt safe on what was a very long journey well cared for by trained professional staff. So glad we used Amvale in transporting such a precious cargo.

From my first call to the safe delivery of my mum from Dumfries hospital to Leeds, Andrew was very helpful and gave me the confidence my 91 old mother would be in very safe hands. The ambulance arrived as promised and my mother was full of praise at how well she had been treated and delivered to her assisted flat. I was given a breakdown of timings with the crew calling me when they were 30 minutes away. The price was very reasonable and I have nothing but praise for the first class service. Would tell anyone looking for a private ambulance to use this service!
